Humidity Control for Data Centres

Humidification is the controlled regulation of moisture in the air. When a data centre’s atmosphere becomes too dry, moisture is drawn from surrounding materials, which can negatively affect performance and reliability. Low relative humidity is not only uncomfortable for staff—it can also damage sensitive equipment and materials.

Sonicom Fogging Nozzle

The Sonicom fogging nozzle raises relative humidity in data halls by reintroducing fine moisture to the air—without wetting or excessive water drop-out.

Ultra-fine fog

Fog as fine as 1 micron (0.001 mm) keeps droplets suspended until they evaporate. Paired with our specialist water-valve assembly, the nozzle becomes a highly efficient, non-drip, self-cleaning atomiser.

Heavy-duty stainless-steel water valve

The robust stainless-steel water valve is driven by the same compressed-air supply that activates the nozzle. A simple on/off signal runs the system; when the signal is removed, the valve self-cleans on each start/stop cycle. It doesn’t drip, reducing blockage risk and suiting environments where precise control is essential and access may be limited.

Sealpump Control Panel

Nozzles are governed by a Sealpump control panel that automatically starts and stops the system to maintain stable humidity levels. We can design a highly efficient Dry Fog humidity control solution that integrates with your existing BMS and processes.

Dry Fog systems offer an economical, low-maintenance and low-energy approach to humidity control, capable of achieving up to 99% RH.

Merlin Humidification Systems

Merlin Technology air-humidification systems are ideal for data centres and electronics environments. Two common risks—electrostatic charge and potential electrical discharges—are significantly reduced with well-designed, well-controlled humidity.

Issues caused by low humidity in electronics

  • Changes in material properties

  • Increased electrostatic charge

  • Higher dust levels affecting components

  • More equipment maintenance and downtime

Benefits of optimal humidity

  • Reduced static charge

  • Lower dust levels
