If material is coming out of your extruder vent, you are paying for polymer that ends up in a vacuum trap or on the floor. On a busy line that adds up quickly, before you even count the downtime spent cleaning up.
Material escapes from the vent when there is more melt under the port than the barrel can hold at that point. High fill levels, pressure building upstream, a screw configuration that does not decompress properly, or a hard vacuum dragging melt up with the gas. Any of those, or a combination, will do it.
Vent port stuffers were designed to stop this. They provide a safe way to increase production while removing air, moisture and volatiles, without losing process material from the vent port.
Screwtech Engineering stuffers use a self-wiping twin-screw design. The intermeshing screws convey any rising material straight back into the barrel, and because they wipe each other clean, they do not clog. Precision tolerances allow full vacuum to be drawn through the unit.
Built from high quality stainless steel, Screwtech stuffers have an easy clean two-part vacuum chamber, separate seal housing and an oil filled gearbox with water cooled jacket for long life at high temperature.
Stop the loss and you also cut the downtime caused by vent blockage. Screwtech supplies stuffers in various sizes for twin-screw and single-screw extruders. Speak to Screwtech Engineering and keep your material where it belongs.
