How can I increase twin screw extruder output without losing quality?

Every production manager wants more out of the same machine. The trouble is that pushing a twin screw extruder harder often shows up at the vent first. Higher throughput means higher fill levels, and higher fill levels mean melt rising up the vent port.

So the line gets held back. Output is capped at whatever the vent can cope with, not what the extruder could actually deliver. That is capacity you have paid for and are not using.

A vent port stuffer from Screwtech Engineering removes that bottleneck. Its self-wiping twin screws push rising material back into the barrel while air, moisture and volatiles escape. You can run at higher fill levels and still maintain product quality.

Precision tolerances mean full vacuum can be drawn, so degassing does not suffer as you speed up. Increased extruder pressure also improves porosity, so quality can actually get better rather than worse.

There are knock on benefits too. The screw configuration becomes less critical, and you can make better use of the available barrel length and vent port positions. Less time lost to vent blockages means more hours actually producing.

Screwtech stuffers are built in high quality stainless steel with an oil filled, water cooled gearbox for long life at high temperature. Various sizes suit a wide range of twin-screw and single-screw extruders. Talk to Screwtech Engineering about what your line could do with the vent sorted.
