Benefits of a Rotalube System • Chain Life – this will be a benefit , the chains normally last 7 to 8 years on a chocolate moulding plant , to see life extension would have a big impact on return on investment, chains cost approx £80K each. • Reduction in Lubricant consumption- The existing automatic lubrication systems typically feed oil onto the chains via brushes. The brushes generaly over lubricate and cover the complete chain with oil wasting lubricant. • Customer Complaints- this is the main reason why the “Rotalube System “is best practice. The lubricant from the old system was mixing with chocolate and dust making a black substances called in the trade as “Blec” . The “Blec” adhered itself to the chain and if not regularly cleaned would build up and fall onto the product resulting in Customer complaints. The “Blec” is a problem at many sites reputation and “Blec” was extremely hard to remove from the chain. The normal procedure was to manually clean the chain which was slow and extremely expensive; this also required the machine to be taken out of production.
