Jurassic Parrr Adventure Golf Monster Hit for Theming Specialists ROCKARTuk

ROCKARTuk create epic prehistoric themed environment at World of Golf’s new adventure golf family attraction, Jurassic Parrr in Glasgow, Scotland World of Golf, the UK’s most popular driving range company, have opened a new £500,000 dinosaur themed adventure golf attraction, Jurassic Parrr at their Glasgow site. The project was managed by theming specialists ROCKARTuk, and the attraction features incredibly realistic animatronic dinosaurs created by the team behind the BBC’s “Walking With Dinosaurs” TV series. The 72 bay all weather driving range at Glasgow currently attracts 120,000 visitors a year, but with the addition of adventure golf, World of Golf hope they have created a major tourist attraction as well as encouraging children to take up golf and also bringing 16 much needed jobs to the area. Key to the project was investing in creative theming to provide a high quality adventure golf experience. Grant Wright, Chief Executive of World of Golf says, “World of Golf had developed several adventure golf centres in the UK. We partnered with ROCKARTuk on this project in Glasgow as we wanted to significantly improve the theming and creation of a complete environment. We are delighted with the finished product which creates a fantasy Jurassic world that delights and intrigues our guests. ROCKARTuk are extremely creative and have been fantastic partners on this exciting project that both companies are rightly proud of.” ROCKARTuk provided the creative spark and master planning for the project, developing a narrative for the course that revolves around the character Professor T. Bunker. Each of the 18 holes is individually themed, with players putting balls into a real “crashed” helicopter, a make-shift radio room and the jaws of a “wormasausorus”. Motion activated sounds and lighting effects around the course, together with the animatronic effects of the lifelike dinosaurs – breathing, blinking, swishing tails and of course roaring - create a multilayered interactive experience aimed at five to 12 year olds. The 2500 sq m course is unusually spacious with holes up to 15 meters long allowing room for ROCKARTuk to go wild and create a superb backdrop for both the dinosaurs and the mini golf game. By creating a storyline and a main character, players are able to follow the narrative of the adventure around the course. The story starts with the discovery of dinosaur eggs in a Scottish mining village. The eggs hatch, dinosaurs rampage and havoc ensues. We were inspired to create a high quality themed environment and visitor experience that would do justice to these amazing dinosaurs.
