Used square oak half length railway sleepers

Grade: Grade 2 hardwood railway sleepers. Largely square cut with some waney edge. Colour: Light brown & silver grey. See pictures above. Weight: Approx 25 kilos, so fairly light to lift in relation to most railway sleepers. So, easier to carry the railway sleepers into position. (e.g. the back of a garden). You'll probably be able to shift them on your own, or if necessary another willing person. Treatment: Untreated. Description: This untreated used oak is probably up to 10 years old. It's mainly square edged on most faces, with a few rounded edges (scallops) where the oak was cut from the outside of the tree. There are also cracks & the odd bits missing. See pictures above. This oak can also have splits, knots & blemishes. Although mainly oak, ccasionally some of the railway sleepers are a different type of hardwood. Cutting: Medium hard. You'll need either a handsaw if you're determined, or a circular saw / chainsaw / powered saw to cut these railway sleepers. As with any project, it makes sense to try and limit the amount of cuts you need to do. Try and plan a design that fits with the size of our sleepers! Attaching / Fixing: Timberlok will probably not easily screw through these without a pilot hole, even if the drill is powerful, so it makes sense to pre-drill. Sizes: IMPORTANT. All sizes below are approximate. That means that although this half railway sleeper is described as 1200mm x 145mm x 145mm it may in fact be several centimetres longer or shorter, wider or thinner. So, allow for between 140mm - 150mm square. This may be significant if you are stacking them on top of each other and want an exact size. As it happens, most landscaping projects have an element of flexibility or tolerance in them and can cope with this. But if your project needs exact accuracy in length, width or depth, then you may need to think of using a different railway sleeper
