New Oak Cubes
Grade: Grade 2, landscaping grade oak cubes. Colour: Ranging from yellowy gold to silver grey. The oak changes in time from a golden colour, to a blotchy, darker, 'stained' look, & finally to a silver grey, if in contact with sun & daylight. This cycle may take 4 - 10 months, depending on sunlight & location of the blocks (whether inside or out) You can plane or sand the surface back to it's original colour if you wish. Weight: Can be heavy to lift, especially the larger cubes. Ranging from the 250mm cubes @ approx 15kg, and the 300mm cubes @ 25kg, and the heavyweight 450mm cubes @ 90kg. Treatment: Untreated Description: This new oak is unseasoned (means it's been cut in the last two years) and untreated. The oak is normally square edged on most faces, although It can also have splits, knots or blemishes which can delevelop over the years as it dries out. (Some call it character!) Cutting: Quite hard. You'll need a circular saw / chainsaw / powered saw to cut these oak cubes. Attaching / Fixing: Timberlok screws won't fasten through these without a pilot hole, even if the drill is powerful. Sizes: IMPORTANT. All sizes below are approximate. That means that although a cube is described as 300mm in length, depth or width it may in fact be several centimetres longer or shorter. This is due to the fact that when french sawmills landscaping grade oak, they don't see them as having to be milimetre accurate in dimension. As it happens, most landscaping projects have an element of flexibility or tolerance in them and can cope with this. If your project needs exact accuracy in length, width or depth, then you may need to cut them to your precise specifications yourself, or think of using a different product.
