Soft threads are finished with a lubricant designed to give smooth sewing and maximise the combined strength of synthetic threads with the vitues of cotton threads. Whilst the cotton sheath protects the core from needle heat, the polyester core gives good resistance to weak alkalis and degredation by UV light.
