6mm Cementitious Pump Screed (Automotive)

DTR VMS Ltd had outgrown their manufacturing facility in Chippingham and had relocated to a larger, 8000 sq mtrs facility in Trowbridge, Wiltshire. The building was very run down and needed extensive refurbishing, including the floors. The existing concrete floors were very worn and uneven and DTR VMS Ltd required a very hard wearing, flat, durable floor surface to withstand high levels of folk lift traffic and production usage. Protective Surface Coatings Ltd specified a 7mm heavy duty, cementitious pump screed, followed by two coats of HB epoxy resin, as the installation had to be completed in a very tight timescale, so speed of installation was the key factor. All the floors were heavily shotblasted and all areas were thoroughly repaired, swept and vacuumed cleaned and all expansion joints were recut and repaired using epoxy mortar compound. An epoxy resin primer was then laid to the total floor area. A 7mm heavy duty cementitious pump screed, was laid and approximately 2000 sq mtrs of pump screed was laid per day. The speed of application was very attractive to DTR VMS Ltd. Once the pump screed was dry and all expansion joints reintroduced then two coats of HB epoxy resin was laid, using light grey to all production areas. The project was completed in 4 weeks, on time and in budget, providing DTR VMS Ltd with a fully refurbished, very durable, hard wearing surface that can be used for many years to come.
