Playbond Safer Surfacing Play Bond is an environmentally friendly safer surfacing – as it is manufactured from recycled, shredded forklift tyres. The loose rubber is mixed with a binder onsite, and this is laid as a ‘solid’ yet bouncy surface. Play Bond is also suitable for installation in landscaping areas – such as pathways, seating areas, etc. We can also install Play Bond over existing rubber tiles, artificial grass and Wetpour – thus saving the need and cost to remove and dispose of these surfacing's. Please refer to some of the photos in this section to see how this looks before and after. Play Bond is suitable for installation in the school environment, as well as caravan parks, open play areas, etc. Please note – the edges of a Play Bond safer surface can (in some instances) ‘shrink’ away from the perimeter of the surfacing area – this can happen when the resin dries and the rubber ‘tightens’ slightly. In most cases, this occurs naturally and is not a issue with the product/installation. Please note – over time the colour coated rubber will expose the inner tyre rubber, due to wear from general use and UV degradation. If this is not re-coated as part of a maintenance program, then the Carbon Black within the original recycled tyre may leave black carbon marks on users. For this reason, we do not recommend this product be laid in areas intended for use by toddlers and young children who may crawl/sit on the surface. Dis-colouration and colour degradation of the rubber are NOT covered within the warranty given on Play Bond. Minor dislodging of rubber shred or ‘fretting’ of the surface is quite normal, and any loose rubber shred will generally just sit amongst the bonded material, adding to the natural effect. Note – Play Bond needs 3 full days to cure post-installation and the area should ideally not be used until the Play Bond is fully cured.
