Using Gritting Salt Safely on Driveways

Rock salt is most useful when it is applied before ice becomes a serious problem. Treating a driveway, path or car park ahead of an expected freeze gives the salt time to begin working and can reduce the amount of ice that bonds to the surface.

Spread it evenly rather than creating heavy piles.

Store bags or bulk supplies somewhere dry so the salt remains free flowing and ready to use.
