Ordering gravel is much easier when the calculation is broken into three simple measurements: length, width and depth. Once those figures are converted into metres, multiplying them together gives the approximate cubic volume of material required.

The mistake people most often make is using the same depth for every project.

As a quick example, a 6m by 0.9m path laid at 50mm deep needs around 0.27m³ of gravel.
