Understanding Sand for Construction Projects

Sand may look like a simple material, but different sands behave very differently once they are mixed, compacted or exposed to water. Choosing the right grade is therefore an important part of getting a building, landscaping or specialist surface project right.

Building sand is typically chosen where a finer, more workable material is needed, particularly for mortar and general bricklaying.

Before ordering, check the purpose of the sand, required depth, area to be covered and whether it will be mixed with cement or used as a standalone layer.
