Automatic Bollard Safety
In recent times, automatic bollards have often been given a reputation as being unsafe, but here at Macs Automated Bollard Systems Ltd we take safety extremely importantly and as such we offer a number of safety features in our automatic telescopic bollards systems which greatly reduces any risk. Automatic bollards are also sometimes seen rising up underneath tailgating vehicles. In order to minimise the risk of this happening, the Highways Agency specify particular safety features to be integrated into all rising bollard systems used on the highways. One of these safety features is the use of safety induction loops, and all of our systems are installed with a number of safety loops prior to the bollards going into operation. If required and specified, these safety induction loops can be programmed for optimum safety, allowing the loops to detect when a vehicle is approaching the rising bollard, signalling it to automatically lower, and helping reduce the risk of an accident. This can then also be incorporated into a CCTV monitoring system to allow any abusers of the bollard system to be issued with a fixed penalty notice. To make our Automatic Telescopic Bollards safer to the public as well as vehicles, we fit a safety pressure switch as standard. This helps to allow the bollard to detect a flat metal weight of 40kg on the bollard head and automatically lower the bollard if needed.
