New Graduate Engineers for Lorien UK and Poland

Lorien Engineering Solutions has affirmed its commitment to nurturing new industry talent with the appointment of nine young graduate engineers, four at its UK office in the East Midlands and a further five at the company’s office in Wroclaw, Poland. In the UK, four graduate engineers have been recruited: Jack Dawson, Roseanne Missenden-Jones, Lou Charpentier-Dusoir and Sarah Matthews, who have joined the firm at its UK headquarters in Burton on Trent where newly qualified engineers play a fundamental part in the growth of the business. Five additional graduate engineers are working in Lorien's location in Poland, in our Wroclaw office. All five aspiring engineers studied at Wroclaw University of Technology, and have joined the business to gain valuable experience across a range of projects. Anna Wojtowicz, Agata Ciecieląg, Martyna Lewandowska, Grzegorz Wisłocki and Paulina Kierod. In the UK, four engineering graduates join Lorien's accredited graduate programme. Jack Dawson is a Chemical Engineering graduate from the University of Bradford, and has since gained experience in pharmaceutical processing. In his new role at Lorien he will work in the firm’s Utilities department where, like all new engineers, he will have the opportunity to work towards Chartered Engineer status. Outside of work, Jack is making a name for himself on the rugby field, with Bradford Bulls RLFC, and more recently with the 1st team at Derby RUFC. Lou Charpentier—Dusoir, who hails from Orleans in France, has joined Lorien’s Packaging department. She has a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Science in the Design of Rotating Machines. Commenting on her appointment, Lou said: “The diverse range of projects, and the opportunity to experience the full life cycle of projects are what attracted me to Lorien. Also, the expertise and mentoring from my colleagues is perfect for a young graduate looking for experience.” Roseanne Missenden-Jones, who graduated from Loughborough University, said ‘Lorien offers an accredited IChemE training scheme, with opportunities that cover a diverse range of industry sectors. Combined with exposure to all stages of the project life cycle, this offers an excellent opportunity to develop my technical expertise.’ The final UK based graduate, Sarah Matthews, has a Masters in Chemical Engineering and was drawn to the challenges faced by female engineers, and the wealth of opportunities the industry offers, and particularly by the prospects offered at Lorien. Sarah is currently working in Lorien’s compliance department, looking at potentially explosive atmospheres and machine safety. Commenting on the appointments to the UK, Lorien director Dave Mallinson said: “Our Graduate Scheme allows recruits to work within experienced and multi-disciplined engineering teams delivering multi-million pound projects, as well as being part of our engineering development programme.” In Poland, five new engineering graduates are joining a thriving engineering design and project management business established in 2009 in the Silesian city of Wroclaw. Anna Wojtowicz graduated in July 2016 in the Faculty of Civil Engineering. Since working at Lorien Anna has been involved in the site construction management of large scale industrial developments for a client engaged in the Automotive sector. Anna is looking to develop her experience and range of skills. Agata Ciecieląg is her last semester at Wroclaw, and is currently working at Lorien developing her quantity surveying experience. Agata said, ‘the friendly environment in Lorien makes sure that I have a chance to develop myself and broaden my horizons.’ Martyna Lewandowska is in her final year of study on the faculty Mechanical and Power Engineering at Wroclaw University of Technology, and is working with the Lorien team as a junior process engineer, designing process plant configurations. Grzegorz Wisłocki is employed as a structural engineering design assistant, and is participating in all stages of creating design documentation – from conceptual to executive design. He qualified in 2015. Paulina Kierod graduated as a Chemical Engineering and Process and Mechanical Engineer in July 2017, and comments: “At Lorien I have an opportunity to be involved with a wide range of projects and work with a dynamic and inspiring group of people.” Łukasz Kolendowicz, managing director of Lorien Engineering Polska said: “We are a rapidly growing engineering business and we feel strongly about ensuring the future of technical engineering here in Poland, and newly qualified engineers therefore play an important part in the exciting growth of our business".
