Lorien celebrates milstone in Poland with new contracts
Lorien Engineering Polska is celebrating its first year in business with the signing of new contracts with international manufacturing companies with Polish operations. The company, which opened its first Polish office in Wroclaw in September 2009, provides engineering and project management services to the food, brewing and pharmaceutical sectors. Following its work with confectionery giant Cadbury at its new production plant in Skarbimierz, Opolskie Voivodeship, Lorien is successfully expanding its work across the region. Lorien has recently been appointed to carry out an explosion protection review (under the European 'ATEX' regulations) of processing equipment at the Polish branch of an international pharmaceutical company in the Łódź area. Lorien's compliance experts will be carrying out site surveys, providing reports and an explosion protection document to ensure that the factory's excellent health and safety record is maintained. Another of Lorien's recent contracts sees the company working with a major European food production group on a process improvement project at its factory in Upper Silesia. The office in Wroclaw is also leading a consultancy assignment in Moscow for an international brewer. UK-based Lorien launched its Polish office to act as a European hub for the firm's many international clients who have a growing presence in the Central and Eastern European region. One year later and the company is well placed to develop its existing presence in the region's food, brewing and healthcare sectors. Andrew Mieleniewski, general manager at Lorien Engineering Polska, said: "Lorien is already making a name for itself in Poland building on the foundations of our work in the UK and throughout the rest of Europe. Following our involvement with a multi million Euro project at Cadbury's new state of the art production plant, we're now looking forward to repeat the success of this project with more of the leading European and international brands based in CEE." Safety compliance is becoming an increasingly important area for manufacturers in Poland and Andrew expects the workload in this area to increase significantly over the next 12 months. He added: "Lorien Engineering has provided safety compliance services internationally for some years and now we're extending our activities in Poland using local engineers with machinery safety and ATEX experience, backed up if necessary by our world renowned specialists in the UK."
