Duncan's efforts boost Pepsico project
Lorien Engineering Solutions senior project engineer Duncan Johnstone has been named 'most influential member of the team' on PepsiCo's Bursom Boost project in Leicester. Duncan played a pivotal role in the capacity increase project, enhancing an existing line which produces family favourites including Wotsits, Chipsticks and Frazzles. He had been requested by Walkers Snack Foods to work on the project, which was successfully completed in August 2009. PepsiCo's Leicester manufacturing facility is the biggest potato chip plant in the world and predominantly produces Walkers potato crisps and some other snack products. The award to a member of the Lorien team is significant in that it is the first time it has been presented to an external contractor on a PepsiCo project. Stephen Brown, Duncan's line manager at Lorien, said: "It's great to see Duncan rewarded for his work and commitment on the Boost Project. Duncan's a very dedicated engineer and he's definitely set the benchmark for future PepsiCo projects. I'm sure he's enjoyed his 'liquid reward' and is now ready for an even bigger challenge on his next project!" Duncan has worked at Lorien Engineering Solutions for over four years and has been instrumental in some of the company's largest contracts in the UK and abroad. Lorien enjoys a close relationship with PepsiCo having worked with the global brand for over 15 years.
