Ladder Exchange Initiative 2009

Do you have a bent, broken, battered or damaged ladder ? The Ladder Exchange Initiative allows you to exchange it for a brand new ladder at a discounted price. The Ladder Exchange Initiative 2009 is running from 1 September until the 31 December 2009. Ladders-Direct.com and the Clow Group Ltd., together with a number of other key partners, are working in conjunction with the HSE to help those using ladders to use ladders safely. The Ladder Exchange Intiative encourages users to ensure their ladders are in a good working condition, safe to use and the right ladder for the job. If your ladder is broken, damaged or bent then the Ladder Exchange is an opportunity to part exchange your old damaged ladder for a brand new ladder at a discounted price. The Ladder Exchange Initiative also provides duty holders with an opportunity to review ladder safety including pre-use checks, training, supervision and risk assessment. The HSE has worked collaboratively with both partner organisations and local authorities over the last two years to remove over 5,500 damaged ladders from the workplace. As highlighted by Peter Brown, HSE Head of Work Environment, Radiation and Gas Division: "In 2007/08 58 workers died and over 3600 were seriously injured as a result of a fall from height in the workplace. Over a quarter of these incidents involved ladders. "We want anyone working at height to use the right ladder for the job and to use it safely. Ladder Exchange is the perfect opportunity for businesses to assess the risks involved in using ladders and to adopt sensible health and safety measures."
