Pleasure Boat Sabrina Gets A Face Lift
At Frankwell Quay, Shrewbury on 29th April 2015, a 200 tonne John Sutch Crane lifted Sabrina, the pleasure boat, out of The River Severn. Maritime experts looked on as the 28.5 tonne vessel was lifted out of the water and placed in a dry dock for essential maintenance. The 41-year-old boat, which began its life on the Thames, in London, was due its bi-annual checks by the Maritime Coastguard Agency to ensure it was safe to carry passengers up and down the River Severn. “When undertaking a contract lift of this type, we work closely with our customers to develop a lift plan. The size of crane is determined by the weight of the load and the radius of the lift, that is, the distance from the crane to the load.” explains Gary Jamieson, Appointed Person on the lift.
