Molslinjen Port, Denmark

The construction of Molslinjen port started in 2018. Which specialises in offering fast connections from Jutland to the main Danish island of Zealand, where it operates two routes: Departures are from the ports of Aarhus and Ebeltoft on the Jutland Baltic coast, with Aarhus being the main port. On these two routes, Molslinjen operates three express ferries with capacities of over 1000 passengers and a good 400 cars. JMS Marine were the chosen contractors for the eco friendly Port, due to our turn-key expertise to complete jobs in a remarkably swift fashion to a high standard. The works compromised over three separate linkspan berths upper and lower. The existing surface had needed to be replaced with a robust coating that would last for the next 10 years. The total area over the three linkspans collectively come out at 1850m2. The Process The busy port had to remain operational for it's daily passengers who relied on the daily high speed crossings to get to and from work. This meant all works had to be carefully planned to ensure there was no disruption to normal service. Each linkspan was coordinated with the port to remove the surfacing in-between sailings and at night time where the ferries had a layover period. Each section was captive blasted using JMS blast 245-D Lorry to industry standard SA2.5. Blasted areas were cleaned before receiving a protective coat of anti-corrosive polyurethane primer for long lasting protection. Each span was prepared and primed in half sections to keep trafficking possible. Primed areas were applied after curing with a heavy-duty anti-skid polyurethane resin system, Bimagrip LS. Chosen for its reliability and performance with a 3-5mm Emery aggregate, also chosen for its robustness and suitability. The Result 1850sqm of heavy duty anti-skid resin was completed in a very wet October battling bad weather. Mols Port now have a new coating with confidence for a long lasting solution with faster and safer port operations all year round! Be the best and do it right first time.
