The bridge was build over a water lock to support the building of a fishway on the island in the middle of the Seine. The bridge was used for pipes to transport concrete to the island.
The Bridge was build with a dragline crane on a pontoon, because between the locks their was no space to place a crane. The pillars were 9m high to allow the boots to sail underneath.
