150 Years of Tank Building
2007 marks a special year for JA Envirotanks as it is the 150th year they have been manufacturing Steel Storage tanks. Born in 1824 to Thomas Ash, a chemist and druggist in Strafford Street, Birmingham, Joseph was educated at King Edward’s school, Gem Street, but at the age of 13 entered the zinc business which his farther had established on High Street. There he acquired a sound practical knowledge of JA Envirotanks (Joseph Ash Ltd) was established in 1857 by Birmingham entrepreneur and Engineer 'Joseph Ash' and have been manufacturing storage tanks in carbon steel and stainless steel ever since. During the Victorian age, Joseph Ash mainly manufactured water and lubrication oil tanks for the developing railway industry and many specialised tanks for the marine industry. At the height of this period their products were used Worldwide. The company is now part of Hill & Smith Plc and trading as part of Hill & Smith Infrastructure Products Group (IPG) that specialises in crash barrier, fences, electronic road signs, parapits for road and rail networks. All Envirotanks are manufactured in a range from 200 litres to 140,000 litres capacity and the standard delivery period is normally within 5 working weeks. Crash barrier systems and warning signs can be supplied as part of JA Envirotanks standard offer.
