BIG DOG JOG RAISES MONEY FOR RETIRED POLICE DOGS
Staffordshire's Retired Police Dog Fund staged a fundraising event for dogs and humans at Chasewater on Saturday (5 September). The Big Dog Jog saw four- and two-legged runners tackling either a 5km or 10km course to raise money for the fund which was set up two years ago to support retired police dogs and their owners. This is the first time the fund has held such an event and it proved a big success with over 170 runners and 80 dogs taking part to raise much needed funds. Retired police dogs Finn, Seamus and Nex took part to support their retired pals along with serving Police dog Jasper and many 'civilian' dogs. Staffs Police Cadets provided valuable support to the event by acting as marshalls on the course. Staffordshire Police's mascot, Kash was also there to lend a paw and proved a big success with the children. Staffordshire Retired Police Dog Fund is run by volunteers and is totally independent of Staffordshire Police. It holds events to raise awareness of the retired dogs and money to ensure a long and happy retirement for them after many years of loyal service. Anyone interested in finding out more about the fund and its activities can follow them on their Twitter account: @staffsretiredPD and facebook : Retired Staffs Police Dog Fund.
