Find The Needle Add My Company
HMTooling supplied a two Imp Mould Tool to manufacture a Polypropylene Fuel cap. The cap has a metal sleeve inserted into the tube section as soon as the mouldings are removed from the tool. The Moulding carries on shrinking, trapping the support tube inside the bore. The caps are then hot plate welded to to the blown moulded tank. Because of the part geometry the Tool was constructed using splits and sliding cores. As the volumes were high but not excessive P20 (pre-toughened) inserts were used for the splits. The sliding cores were fully hardened as were the guides and wear plate. The parts was fed by standard cold sprue, runner and sub gates.
