Bottle valve moulding

Low volume high quality prototype tooling was made to test the function of the design. The parts made from polypropylene tit together with a slide fit. When the parts are pulled apart there is a special snap/clip feature that locks the two mouldings in a certain position. The Tooling was made from P20 Steel using internal and external slides to produce the parts. The internal thread feature is moulded using 3 off hand held inserts. The moulding with the threaded inserts is held in a jig and removed by hand whilst another moulding is being processed. Each part is moulded in its own bolster because of the tight tolerance involved. Each part is fed by three tunnel gates into the centre bores to reduce risk of distortion.
