8 imp Polyproplyne Moulding

Hmtooling supplied fully hardened tooling to supply a high volume polypropylene part. The Tooling consisted of 8 cavities set in fully hardened inserts. The parts were fed by submarine gates in turn fed by a four drop hot runner system. This allowed for a fully balanced system were all eight cavities had the same size gate. The ends of the part was cored out using sliding cores which were run in fully hardened guides and wear plates. The Spline fitted inside a cleaning mop handle as shown. The bottom picture shows the electrodes used to spark erode the cavities. Polypropylene was used for the part as it had to be flexible and resist cleaning chemicals.
