Green Brothers Completes Contemporary Signage Pro

Manchester based sign manufacturer Green Brothers Ltd have completed a challenging sign project at Cornerhouse. Located in a key position at the heart of Manchester, one of the UK’s most vibrant cities, Cornerhouse is an international centre for contemporary visual arts and film. With three floors of contemporary art galleries, three screens showcasing the best in international cinema, plus a bar, café and bookshop – Cornerhouse offers Manchester’s residents and visitors a varied and stimulating leisure experience. As part of a project to renovate the façades of the wedge-shaped building, Cornerhouse needed a strong signage solution, which would fulfil both an informative, promotional function and increase the impact of the Cornerhouse brand. The location of Cornerhouse, on a key city-centre junction within proximity of a city-centre residential area, was to present a number of difficulties. Cornerhouse needed a sign company they could be confident would manage the difficulties to deliver the project, and Green Brothers’ combination of experience, capability and customer focus gave Cornerhouse the confidence needed. The information and promotion element of the sign package uses both illuminated and non-illuminated poster display cases. A number of these cases are installed within the framework of a former window, with a custom fabricated and reinforced back panel specially designed to house the cases. The branding signage involved high-level individual letters spanning the fascia around the building - with halo-illuminated identity signs over the two entrances. The identity signs comprise a folded aluminium tray with built-up stainless steel letters, all in Cornerhouse brand colours. The letters are fitted with white-twister LEDs to provide a halo illumination effect. To complete the installation required scaffold towers to be erected on the pavement, on a busy city-centre street. Green Brothers liaised with the local authority to arrange the necessary licences, putting measure in place to minimise the disruption on the street and noise-pollution control, with the installation work being completed on a Sunday. The finished project has met all of Cornerhouse’s project objectives, and they are extremely satisfied with the experience of working with Green Brothers.
