NEW ASTHMA DRUG “MEPOLIZUMAB” GETS NHS APPROVAL
The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has approved Mepolizumab, a new generation drug created to treat some forms of severe asthma. This drug was approved by the Scottish NHS earlier this year however it had previously been rejected for use in England. After an intense work of Asthma UK, NICE reviewed its decision and today has approved the use of this new drug, which target one type of severe asthma and can help around 250.000 people in the UK.
