Environmental - Smarter Power/Energy
Gofer are committed to reducing noise pollution, fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. We are continually looking at new ways to achieve this aim. Reduction • Lowering noise and fuel consumption using new high efficiency generators. • Energy harvesting and storage. • Planning events with low energy technology. • Minimising transport mileage. • Utilising energy saving schemes at our base of operations. Recycling We recycle all waste oil, fuel and filters via accredited providers. Cardboard, paper, glass, plastics and metal also get recycled. Smarter Energy Gofer is continually looking at smarter ways to power events. Using energy smarter isn’t just about using alternative power sources; it is fully understanding your power requirements and using energy efficiently. We work closely with you, the event providers to establish ways in which you can make smart choices with how you power events. How we can work together to provide smarter energy solutions: • Equipment lists – by providing detailed equipment lists (and sticking to them), Gofer is able to assess the power demand at an event and provide the most efficient power setup. • Site plans – by providing site plans in advance we can work with you to discuss the design to ensure the most efficient use of power. • Alternative and new energy – advanced booking allows Gofer to source alternative and new energy sources. • Monitoring energy – technology is now available to monitor energy usage on generators. Power usage data can be reviewed at the end of an event to assess how improvements can be made in future years. What benefits will you see? • Most importantly, you will be reducing your energy usage and having a positive impact via the reduction of emissions. • Reduced transport costs – by providing detailed plans and equipment lists we only need to take the stock that is required, rather than spare equipment or oversized generators. • Reduced diesel usage – managed sites plans, controlled equipment lists, monitoring and alternative and new energy sources will hopefully lead to a reduction in diesel usage. Data from Powerful Thinking (originally published by Julie’s Bicycle) suggests that the average number of litres of diesel used at UK music festivals is 0.6 litres per person per day. Powerful Thinking recommends that events should: • aim to reduce diesel consumption by 50% • have energy monitoring as standard in contractual agreements • look at diversification toward renewable sources. Gofer can help events meet these aims. The key routes to achieving this is through improving communication between event providers and power suppliers and confirming bookings in advance. Having time and accurate information about your events, will help Gofer transform how power is supplied. We understand that it will be a gradual process to see big changes and cost savings in the event industry through the implementation of smart energy, but by taking whatever steps you can now will help reduce the time it takes for smart energy practices to become mainstream. Environmental Kits 1 x Small bag of oil absorbent granules You are now able to hire an Environmental Kit for small pant and generator applications with low quantities of fuel and low risk of spillage e.g. refuelling 1 or 2 generators with jerry cans. An additional cost applies if the kit is used. Each kit contains: • 10 x Oil absorbent pads • 10 x Disposable gloves • 1 x Waste bag • Spillage procedure details For further information please contact our head office on 01473 282530.
