A faulty Variable Speed Drive (VSD) controlling a conveyor at the Wilkins Jam Factory was replaced as part of an upgrade to the system.
Our engineers were called to the Wilkins Jam factory to replace a faulty Variable Speed Drive (VSD) serving a conveyor system. The application required a robust solution suitable for the demanding environment of a food manufacturing facility, with a stainless-steel motor installed on the conveyor.
The Work
The existing faulty VSD was removed, with the drive parameters recorded beforehand to allow the replacement unit to be correctly configured.
Our engineers installed a new stainless-steel unistrut frame to provide a secure mounting point for the replacement drive. New mains, motor and control cables were then installed and connected.
The stainless-steel motor driving the conveyor was checked as part of the installation, with the new VSD programmed using the original operating parameters.
Following installation, the drive was fully tested and commissioned. The motor’s direction of rotation was checked to ensure the conveyor was operating correctly and safely.
The Result
The new VSD was successfully installed, programmed and commissioned, restoring reliable operation of the conveyor system at the Wilkins jam factory.
The stainless-steel motor provides a robust solution for the food manufacturing environment, while the replacement VSD ensures accurate and reliable control of the conveyor.
The work area was left clean and tidy following completion.
