Large Tier 1 Aerospace Supplier approached Frost Electroplating Aerospace with an opportunity to tender for their new Connector business.

Discussions with the management team at Frost Electroplating highlighted their concerns with the supply chain unable to find a solution to the selective Ag and Hard Anodised requirement. The difficulty was getting both finishes to meet, midway down a blind bore, on the 1mm chamfer with clear definition and with no bare material exposed. Companies from both the USA and Europe had spent 2 years trying to meet the requirement that is needed.

At our following New Part Review meeting the idea of looking at conventional plating, masking & stripping methods was discarded, purely because a lot of companies over the 2 year period tried & failed.
