Solving Aluminium Alloys Coating Measurement and Analysis Problems With X-Ray Fluorescence
Aluminium is a versatile material used in the automotive industry. As the properties of aluminium alloys can be greatly modified by adding different constituents (to add strength, enhance plasticity etc), which in turn influences the processing properties of the alloys, incoming goods inspection (e.g an automotive supplier) must verify that the alloy contains no copper. This is because of its negative effect on corrosion and welding properties. Material analysis by X-Ray Fluorescence provides the precision and accuracy necessary. The Fischerscope X-Ray XUV® 773 works in a vacuum chamber, which eliminates the problem of the fluorescence radiation of lightweight elements such as magnesium, aluminium and silicon, being absorbed into the air. Fischer will demonstrate material analysis using X-Ray Fluorescent alongside its range of handheld coating thickness instruments at the Advanced Engineering Show 11th – 12th November 2014. Fischer Instrumentation (GB) Ltd is on Stand F18.
