New Probe measures pipeline coatings of 100mm
A prototype of the FA100 probe capable of measuring pipeline coatings of up to 100 mm, will be presented at the Pipeline and Marine Corrosion Conference at Edinburgh 15-18 October 2012, in addition to the newly upgraded Poroscope® HV40 porosity tester capable of detecting pores and cracks not visible to the eye in electrically non conductive protective coatings. The FA100 probe measures thicker coatings than previously seen in the marketplace; the technically superior instrument accounting for the curvature of the pipe and providing consistent readings and accurate results. The FA100 probe can be used with a range of Fischer coating thickness gauges – from the top of the range FMP100 to the compact dual reading MPO gauge. Fischer will be presenting a paper at the conference on the theory of coating thickness measurements using eddy current methods with specific reference to the pipeline industry’s use of thicker coatings. Both the Poroscope® HV40 and FA100 instruments will be demonstrated on Stand 153 within the exhibition area. Fischer continues to demonstrate how using the latest technological advancements provide companies with an advantage in today’s global economy.
