100 Years on - We Remember

We changed our ticker banner on our home page to commemorate the loss of lives during World War 1 FineCal wanted to do its bit by supporting the Royal British Legion at this time. So many soldiers who loss their lives live on in our hearts. We all as manufacturers, suppliers and customers have personal family connections with what happened 100 years ago. The picture was taken at the Tower of London by Tony, our Marketing Manager. The poppies are made out of ceramics and the plantation along the grassy moat will be completed by November 11th - Remembrance day. The installation, in collaboration with ceramic artist Paul Cummins and designer Tom Piper, was unveiled on 5 August 2014, one hundred years since the first full day of Britain's involvement in the First World War. There will be 888,246 poppies installed, one for each British and Colonial fatality during the war. Then the poppies will be sold and the area cleared. "Lest we forget...."
