Allow us to introduce you to Jason Smith, a local hero on a mission. He recently reached out to us in search of a sponsor willing to join him in his noble cause. And join him, we did!
Jason is a devoted member of Care for Kuffu, a UK-based charity with deep-rooted ties to our very own Brandon. Back in 2010, Care for Kuffu emerged under the auspices of the Harvest Centre, a small but vibrant presence in our town. The Harvest Centre initiated an international Bible school, where a student named Samual Elijah Kibirige's life journey inspired others to embark on their charitable mission, driven by stories from Kuffu.
Jason, together with Care for Kuffu, collaborates with GOSHEM, a local Ugandan charity. Their collective goal is to establish self-sustaining villages in the most underprivileged regions of Uganda. Through their concerted efforts, these rural communities have blossomed into "thriving micro economies that would not be dependent on aid or external assistance."
Fengate Fasteners couldn't have been more thrilled to align with this extraordinary cause. We promptly furnished Jason with an array of tools and supplies to bolster his mission. Armed with these tools, Jason ventured to Uganda this year, equipped to undertake various essential building projects. We take immense pride in being a part of this venture, and the heartwarming progress photos we've received have lit up our branch with joy.
Care for Kuffu has acquired a sprawling seventeen-acre parcel of land in Kuffu, now a source of sustenance and self-sufficiency. They cultivate crops, including coffee and maize, and rear livestock to secure a more stable future.
Jason has spearheaded the construction of schools capable of accommodating over 230 children, a church kitchen block, a bio toilet, a Visitor's Centre block, and, most recently, a medical hospital block. Care for Kuffu and Jason express deep gratitude for the support rendered by Fengate Fasteners and other sponsors, as it has been pivotal in bringing these transformative projects to life.
Notably, Care for Kuffu operates without any administrative fees, ensuring that every penny raised directly fuels initiatives aimed at bettering the lives of the Kuffu people.
