Used Oil to Biodiesel – Cone Bottom Tanks
More and more delivery vehicles are now powered by recycled cooking oil, otherwise known as biodiesel. It’s been a very beneficial marketing ploy for a number of years now and a brand name associated with this movement is none other than McDonald’s. Since 2007, the fast food giant, which incidentally claims to feed nearly one per cent of the world’s population each day, has been running its UK delivery trucks on biodiesel made entirely from cooking oil collected from its restaurants. And it’s not just McDonald’s that is publicly striving to reduce the levels of emissions on the UK’s roads. Online supermarket, Ocado, introduced biodiesel-fueled vehicles to it’s home-delivery fleet over three years ago and strives to avoid less than environmentally-friendly palm oils across its biodiesel fleet. The recognisable mega-brands may bring the concept of biodiesel to more and more people’s attention, but the conversion from traditional fuels to biodiesel does not just include these huge companies. More and more companies with delivery fleets are finding ways to salvage and recycle cooking oils and use them to make quality, affordable and furthermore, safer for the environment biodiesel and this is achieved using cone bottom tanks. Enduramaxx cone bottom tanks firstly serve as a separation tank to help separate initial impurities from cooking oils. Further into the biodiesel process, the conical bottoms also allow for glycerol to separate to the bottom of the cone where it can be drained. Available in sizes ranging from 250 to 17,000 litres, the conical tanks are made using a ribbed design and using a single piece of rotationally moulded UV-stabilised polyethylene.
