IP RATED POWER SUPPLIES AND LED DRIVERS

Ingress Protection (IP) is the rating that is used to specify the levels of sealing effectiveness of enclosures against intrusion from external substances and moisture. The IP rating consists of two numbers, the first refers to the protection it has against solid objects and the second refers to the protection it has against fluids. The table below explains what each number means in terms or protection: So for example; an IP67 rated LED power supply such as the Mean Well HLG-320 Series would be protected from dust and capable of withstanding water immersion between 15 cm and 1 meter for 30 minutes. This makes all of the Mean Well IP67 rated LED drivers and power supplies ideal for harsh environments and indeed many of the Mean Well IP67 rated units are used in outside applications such as street lighting, LED signs and traffic controls.
