Hand files are an essential tool and feature a larger cutting surface that is longer and wider than other file types. They are ideal for fast, efficient removal of material for initial shaping, smoothing and, in finer cuts, for finishing. At the end of the stroke, the file should be lifted from the workpiece and repositioned for the next stroke; dragging the file backward on the return stroke can mar the metal and damage the file. This file has a narrow and tapered tang allowing it to be secured to a handle, providing better comfort and control during use. This slim half round file measures 12.9mm in width and 4mm in height.
