When Wright Design wanted to show potential investors their new Push To Talk handset it was a project for the SLA machines and our model making team. Our CAD engineers split the model down into components allowing the neatest painting transition from one colour to the next. During this CAD stage, we made the provision for the weight requirement, implementing an internal cavity to later fill with weight. Once the parts were built on our high-resolution SLA machines, the hand finishing and painting was undertaken and the CNC machining of the acrylic screen. The result was a sharp, detailed prototype correct in weight and with the tactile feel of the intended rubber coated product, in a cost-effective block model.
