Brian Wright to retire after 35 years service from Schenck Process
to spend more time on the International badminton circuit!
Brian Wright is to retire from Schenck Process in Doncaster after a long and industrious career that started with Macawber Engineering in 1978 and he has been with the company ever since through various changes of name culminating with Clyde Materials Handling becoming part of the Schenck Process Group in 2011. During his 35 years Brian has had many different and varied roles including being Project Director, Manufacturing Director, Joint Managing Director and latterly as Aftermarket Sales Director.
“Every year has been different and this has kept up my enthusiasm to develop and grow the business” says Brian. “The early years of increasing the awareness of the possibilities for pneumatic conveying technologies and the unique properties of the Clyde Dome Valve, in particular, were very enjoyable. We took the company from a regional to an international supplier with offices in China, Brazil, South Africa and America within a few years and this has been the platform for our future success. It has been hard work at times but also a bit of fun as well!”
Schenck Process now incorporates the Clyde Process pneumatic conveying and injection technologies as part of its worldwide operations for the movement, measuring and monitoring of materials in production processes across all types of industries – from plastics to metals and from food to pharmaceuticals.
In Brian’s most recent role as Aftermarket Sales Director he has helped to grow the level of spare parts and service contract sales across the Group by working with local sales teams in Europe, India and the Far East. “In the future, one of the Company’s challenges will be how to work more closely with the emerging markets and their customers to help them to be more efficient for the long term. I hope that I have played a part to develop our company to be able to face these challenges for the benefit of our customers worldwide.”
Brian is a keen badminton player, representing England on several occasions in the “Masters” division and is the current World Mixed Doubles Gold Medal winner as well as Men’s doubles Silver Medal winner in his age group, so there will be no shortage of things to keep him busy and active in retirement. “I have had a very enjoyable career, working with some great people and I wish the Company all the best for the future” concludes Brian.
