Eddy Current Testing equipment is extremely portable, which allows our technicians to inspect equipment or components that are difficult to access. The equipment is also very reliable and sensitive to very small cracks. Results from Eddy Current testing are instant, which means we can report to site and operation management immediately, ensuring speedy decision making. How Eddy Current Testing Works Eddy Current testing makes use of electromagnetic induction to detect flaws and defects in both ferrous and non-ferrous materials by inducing an eddy current field within the test material. One of the advantages of this testing method is that it requires minimum preparation and you do not need to remove any surface paint or coating from tested materials. This makes eddy current testing ideally suitable for inspecting painted structures, components and parts.
