Christopher Willmott – Trekking Burma – Myanmar For Charity
Our very own Managing Director Christopher Willmott will be taking on another Charity challenge this year. Read Chris’s story below. Your support would be greatly appreciated. I’m trekking for five days through mountainous tribal villages and staying in Buddhist monasteries along the way. To raise money for Chestnut Tree House. Chestnut Tree House is a children’s charity providing hospice care services and community support for children and young people with progressive life-shortening conditions throughout East and West Sussex, Brighton and Hove and South East Hampshire. There are potentially 1,000 families with life-limited children in Sussex. Chestnut Tree House offers support for the whole family including psychological and bereavement support, end of life and short break care and sibling support. It currently costs well over £3.5m each year to provide all the care services provided by Chestnut Tree House. Families are never charged for their care and less than 7p in every pound is funded by the government, so they rely heavily on the generosity, help and support of the people of Sussex. At Chestnut Tree House their goal is to provide the best quality of life for children, young people and their families, and to offer a total package of practical, social and spiritual support throughout each child’s life, however short it may be. About 9 years ago I found a love for the road and became an athletics coach to share my passion of running with others. I trained consistently and set myself a challenge of running the Brighton Marathon in 2012 and managed to raise over £500 for the children’s charity Wistons Wish, last year I took part in a trek through the Grand Canyon and raised roughly £3900 for Globals make some noise charity. I also own my own business and 10% of the company’s profit is donated to several charities. I have set the bar to raise £4,000 and I hope that the people that know me, local companies and the community can engage an understanding to help me, whilst I helps others. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
