Glamping is becoming a popular pastime and holiday choice. As a more ‘luxury’ version of camping, any facilities and services you offer will also need to look luxurious.
Whilst a bog-standard shipping container isn’t the most attractive thing to most, a lot can be done to make it beautiful. In the summer of 2025, we supplied a glamping site in Northwich with a high end converted container, which they used as a bar.
With this timber clad container bar, we completed some of the conversion works, ready for the bar to be fitted once on site.
As all our container conversions are bespoke, we can easily taylor the degree of works done to best match your site and needs.
Shipping Container Bar Conversion in Northwich
Converting a shipping container into a bar is becoming increasingly popular with glamping sites, bars and events companies. These conversions are made to order and will be bespoke for your project. They can moved around on site, as well as moving between new sites.
Cladding a Shipping Container
For this bespoke unit, we used a one trip 20ft shipping container. One trip containers are ideal for conversions as they are close to perfect so already look good. They are also newer than used containers, so have a longer lifespan left. This means that your container will need minimal maintenance for many years.
Manual Roller Shutters on a Shipping Container
We installed two manual 8ft roller shutters in the side of the unit. Roller shutters are a great option for projects like this as are easy to use and also very secure. The shutters on this unit were also powder coated in grey to match the rest of the container.
By having two separate shutters, our customer has flexibility on how they use the container. When they are busy they can stream line their serving by having two serving hatches or having one hatch for taking orders and the other for giving them out.
The two serving hatch shutters can be a big help in keeping the bar serving efficiently.
Composite Timber Cladding for Shipping Containers
Cladding shipping containers is an easy way to make the unit more attractive. For this customer, as the unit would be going to a glamping site, they wanted to keep the look as ‘natural’ as possible. By adding timber cladding to the outside of the container, the unit blends a more with it’s surroundings.
This unit was clad in an Oak Composite Cladding. Composite timber cladding is a durable and also low maintenance type of exterior wall cladding. It is made from recycled wood fibres and plastics, mimicking the look of real wood.
The durability of the composite timber is a great feature of this type of cladding. It is long lasting and resistant to weathering – ideal for container which are sat outside all year round! It is also low maintenance so does not require regular paint, sealing or staining like natural timbers.
Bespoke Internal Conversion for a Shipping Container Bar
For this bar conversion we only did a small part of the internal conversion. Our customer was going to have the rest of the bar fit out completed on site once delivery was completed.
We lined and insulated the unit for them. They opted to have two different types of linings within the unit which gives the bar a very unique look. They chose to have OSB lining on the back wall and side and then had melamine on the serving wall and ceiling. Melamine is a great lining option for catering and bar conversions as it can easily be wiped clean.
We also added a poly floor, a type of synthetic covering. It is highly durable offering a long life span as well as being resistant to wear – great for spaces that will have a lot of traffic. It is also very good for catering units as it is easy-to-clean, so spilling drinks isn’t a big clean up job!
After we completed the unit and delivered to site, the customer had electrics fitted along with the rest of the bar set up.
