Back in August 2024, we received an enquiry from a Walking Football Team in Royston, Hertfordshire. They are a local group of villagers & friends who have played walking football since 2018. They raise money annually for local & national charities that help their community.

Guilden Morden Walking Football Club had started a crowdfunding project, as sadly, their walking football storage container was broken into and all their equipment stolen. They were in need of secure storage – this is where we came in.
We provided a used 20ft container for their storage needs.
Access to Site
Our customer very helpfully sent us some access pictures of their site. This was to make sure delivery was doable to the location they needed their container. They were worried the lorry may not be able to reach the desired location without having to go on the grass.
Now, grass deliveries aren’t impossible; but they do make things a LOT more tricky. The majority of our hauliers will not be happy to attempt soft ground, due to the big risk of the lorry getting stuck. If we are to attempt a grassy delivery, it will almost always be in Summer/Spring months to reduce the risk further.
If you’re looking to buy a container, but you are concerned about access being unsuitable, you are always more than welcome to do this! Any pictures or a video walkthrough are really helpful for us to try and assess your site. We will happily do this free of charge, however if a site visit is deemed necessary, we can offer this as a chargeable service. We always say, it’s much better to have paid for the site visit than have to pay failed delivery charges if we get to site and there are issues.
Delivery of the 20ft Used Shipping Container to Royston
Our driver was able to lift the container into the exact position our customer needed it. He was able to do this without going onto the grass.
Our customer had prepared a concrete base for the container to sit on. It is very important that your container is on a hardstanding and level base. This is to ensure “racking” does not occur – where if the container is not perfectly level, the container will flex, so the door opening will not be square anymore. This will make your container doors jam or not close properly.
We also suggest keeping your container raised a little off the ground, to help give you the best possible lifespan. If the container is raised off the ground, the ground beneath will dry out faster. This adds significant extra life to your container.

For Guilden Morden Walking Football Club, we provided a used 20ft shipping container. Our used containers are a great option when you’re not fussed on cosmetics, and just need something suitable for storage. All of our used containers are sold with a wind and watertight guarantee. So, you are assured of a structurally sound container that is also professionally checked over before it leaves the yard.
Used containers will generally be around 15-20 years old. You will expect dinks, dents, surface rust; and likely previous repairs. You can see our “what to expect” video here. If a used container is a little too rough-looking for you, we have plenty of other options available.
Guilden Morden Walking Football Club’s container now homes storage for the Cricket Club, Walking Football and the Church Mower. All happy living together under one roof!
