On Day 2 Jamie began the hike at Pokjuka to the Blejska Hut which is at 1633 meters of elevation, and then back down, Hi Hiked a total of 7.74 miles which took him a total of 4:31 Hours, beginning in snow fall conditions at around 10am. After hiking through a forest of snow for about half an hour they hiked through an open field which had shepherd’s huts on the far end, on the opposite side of the snowy field Jamie spied a tall wooden hunters tower, once they passed through to the far side of the field they joined the forest again, hiking up hill through steep snowy gradient through the beautiful forest towards the mountain hut, after about half an hour before the Mountain hut Jamie noticed that there were slight avalanche risks it seemed in the area as a result of Jamie’s observations of the thick stacks of snow on the steep embankments, Jamie’s instincts and observations were correct, about half an hour Later whilst hiking up steep snowy gradient on snow Jamie’s Team finally reached the Mountain hut of Blejska, as Jamie approached the Hut first, the area was very Misty on approach to the Hut, it seemed to help contribute to a feeling of majestic mystery even a romantic feeling, the area was covered completely in thick snow, Jamie Placed on display the TBCS Flag Here, after a short break at the Hut they then descended back down the mountain back to base, it began to Snow again on there descent back down.On Day 3, Jamie and his Team began at the starting point of Ratece towards the Hut of Tromeja/Pec at an elevation of 1508 meters, this Hike took 3 hours and six minutes, but the Hike was much steeper than the previous day but never the less very beautiful, they began Hiking through a forest and then on to a road for about 30 meters then turning left back up in to the forest again along a snowy path, after about half way they turned left on to a straight path leading directly up the mountain towards the mountain hut, the Path winded up the Mountain steeply towards the Hut, this section of the hake was much steeper and again still on snowy terrain, after about half an hour of Hiking along this route, the weather in the sky cleared up bringing blue sky in the horizon and displaying the sun shining down on to the distance mountains, whilst Jamie and his team looked through the forest trees towards the distance mountains the view looked extremely beautiful, this experience seemed to energize Jamie and lift up his happy mood even further, Jamie and his team continued to press on up the steep mountain gradient all feeling in good spirits, when they reached the Mountain hut of Tromeja/Pec which on this occasion was on the summit of the mountain, the sky was clear on this occasion, and the views stretched out along a long distance plateau displaying an extremely beautiful view, Jamie felt Happy, strong and energized, Jamie decided to place on display the TBCS flag here. They then began their descent back down to base, Jamie felt at home and at peace in the mountain wilderness. On day 4 Jamie and his team began the hike at Belopeska Lakes to the destination of the mountain hut Rifugio Luigi Zacchi which is at an elevation of 1380 Meters, this hike took 3 hours and 19 minutes, The area was very beautiful, again they began hiking up the mountain through a snowy forest towards the Hut, along the base of this section Jamie noticed many large boulders which had fallen from the mountain many years ago, many of the boulders were over 20 feet tall, Jamie Found the boulders in the forest interesting and beautiful, the hike up to the mountain was up fairly steep gradient in snowy terrain, when they reached the Hut after an hour and a half, the area was covered in snow, the view of the beautiful snowy mountain rock face alongside the hut looked extremely pictures and beautiful, after a quick meal at the Hut, Jamie and his Team then descended Back down the Mountain, back to base.On day 5 Jamie and his Team were scheduled to Kayak and explore deep in to the mine in the Peca Mountain, but because of maintenance issues in the mine this wasn’t possible so instead the local expert Nika came up with a solution to explore deep inside the mine on mountain bikes with a local guide so they did, for 2 hours cycling and exploring in the mine on uneven terrain through the tunnels and being shown historical artefacts by the local guide, when Jamie and his team cycled out of the mine, Jamie and 2 members of his team free cycled down a steep long road all of the way back to base, the free cycle back to base was all down hill, down a very steep gradient, down the side of the mountain, for a fairly long period of time, it felt free blissful and exiting, especially after coming out of the mine, and spending 2 hours exploring and cycling inside the mine Jamie Donnelly enjoyed this Challenge and expedition and found it a beautiful Educational experience, Jamie felt very Happy, strong and energized throughout the Challenge and expedition. The Local Expert Nika was a very helpful friendly Guide and a very strong Lady. The people of Slovenia were very friendly people and the crime rate is very low according to locals, making it a safe destination.
