BDC SYSTEMS' GRAIN BUTLER SCOOPS DOUBLE AWARD
The innovative Grain Butler from BDC Systems received a double accolade in the 2009 RASE (Royal Agricultural Machinery of England) Machinery Awards. It was firstly awarded the Silver Medal in the awards and recognised for design features that are considered effective and reliable by users. The very latest Grain Butler development, the Automatic Path Control System, then picked up the New Equipment Award. Andrew Head from BDC Systems, accepted the awards on behalf of the company. The Grain Butler is a self-propelled portable stirring auger suitable for grain and other combinable crops. It facilitates drying by lifting grain from the bottom to the top of the store and mixes the grain. It makes it extremely ‘flowable’ and non-compacted, increasing aeration and allowing quicker drying and removal of hot spots. Claims of reductions in hot spots within the store have been confirmed by users, who found that the store temperature and moisture content were incredibly uniform and drying time was reduced. The lifting effect also levels the top of the grain, which evens the airflow over the whole area, helping to reduce un-dried areas where there is insufficient airflow.
