Our company was established as Archer Technicoat Ltd in 1980, ATL has always been a privately owned, high tech company based to the west of London, specializing in the development of CVD processes and the construction of industrial CVD equipment. Originally formed by Nick and Wendy Archer, Nick had previously worked at the Fulmer Research Institute and had identified several CVD processes with strong commercial promise. The company became part of Morgan Crucible Group in 1988. In 1995 the management purchased the company from Morgan Crucible and ATL became independent again. In 1996 ATL signed a licensing agreement with Ionbond AG of Olten, Switzwerland (formerly Berna AG). This meant that ATL’s CVD & CVI equipment portfolio is supplied by a partnership of IonBond and ATL. This agreement has continued to the current day.
