ALLSOP PLACE, LONDON NW1

The London-based glass art specialists Andrew Moor Associates created the dramatic exterior entrance to the new apartment building shown in the picture below. This new apartment building is on the south side of London’s Regents Park, just a few yards from London’s famous Planetarium. Above the entrance is a coloured glass canopy, overhanging the entrance steps. Its colours capture the changing seasonal colours of the adjacent park; its abstract composition imbued with movement and energy. Beside the clear glass entrance doors is a 1.8m long curving panel of coloured enamelled steel. This very different medium, also installed by Andrew Moor Associates creates a beautiful contrast to the strong colours of the canopy. If inspected closely the curved panel reveals a mixture of delicately drawn classical architectural facades and soft foreground leafy shapes, all expressed in pale colours.
