A Journey Across Africa with Diageo

Creating long-standing partnerships lies at the heart of Ancorite’s ethos and working with clients at home and abroad to meet their bespoke requirements for growth gives our relationships a sense of real value. An example of this is our work with multinational beverage leader, Diageo, which has spanned over a decade and has taken us from the UK and Ireland to right across Africa. Back in 2013 and following successful completion of work on its brewing and fermentation facility in St James Gate (Dublin), Ancorite was tasked with heading to the Diageo plant in Western Africa where it supplied and subsequently installed resin and tiled flooring. Here, Ancorite worked at the Kumasi plant in Ghana to lay Ucrete polyurethane resin for process areas. Following on from this, a year later our specialist team headed east to Ethiopia to carry out work on Diageo’s Meta Abo Guinness Brewery. Here, the team again supplied and installed Ucrete flooring, working to impeccable standards and successfully executing the project. Ancorite’s journey with Diageo has since continued across Africa to its site in Kenya – where it has supplied and installed over 5000m2 of Ancorite Vibration tiling system at the East African Breweries plant – and over to Cameroon where again it supplied and installed Ucrete flooring. Just before the pandemic hit and coming full circle, in 2019 Ancorite returned to Ghana where the team had the pleasure of working at Diageo’s newest site. Whilst the COVID-crisis has temporarily halted our progress here, we hope that 2021/22 will allow us to head back to Ghana where we can complete the project to our exacting standards. Without a doubt, our team has delighted in working on each and every project with Diageo – both at home and abroad. Of course, executing work further afield is not always without challenges – the weather in particular can certainly affect progress – but our ability to adapt and to work with our clients to overcome any hurdles helps to achieve success. What’s more, working abroad with clients provides our team with new and positive experience that enhance our personal and professional development. From giving us the opportunity to employ local labour whereby we can share our expert skills and experience, to experiencing different cultures and the way in which they work, theses overseas projects add real value to Ancorite as individuals and as a team.
