ASC opens new facility in Birstall

Advanced, has opened a brand new operations centre at Birstall, Leeds in response to increased demand from its clothing manufacturing and freight forwarding clients. ASC has invested heavily in the project and 150 jobs are expected to be created at the new facility over the next twelve months. The 200,000 sq ft customs bonded facility brings ASC`s total operational space to over 1 million sq ft. Initially intended to accommodate overspill storage for the company`s existing customer base, increased customer demand has created a need for the site to fulfil an operations centre role. Jane Marshall, General Manager at the new facility, commented: "ASC is experiencing a huge demand from the UK clothing sector for pre-retailing operations in the UK. This, combined with a requirement for additional warehousing for new freight forwarding customers, which has occurred as a result of the Sinotrans partnership, means that our new Leeds facility will be run as an additional operations centre alongside our main pre retail site in Holmfield, Halifax." Jane, who was formerly Implementation Manager at ASC, has been seconded to the Birstall site to manage the full-service operation. She brings with her a wealth of experience from previous roles at Tesco, Argos and Lakeland Leather. Mike Danby, CEO of ASC, added: "As a Yorkshire-based business we are delighted that this new venture will be generating job opportunities in the area over the next year as the company continues to go from strength to strength." Sinotrans is China`s largest logistics company. The is Government owned company works with ASC to offer UK customers end-to-end logistics for the movement of goods to and from Asia.
